About Karissa
Being Kevin and Kellee’s daughter, Karissa has been immersed in music since before she could walk and talk! She has been playing piano and drums since she was a child and played snare on the Valley High School drumline and Iowa State University’s Groove – ISU’s winter drum line.
Karissa started as an assistant at Arrow Academy when the studio opened in 2010 and has been lead- teaching effectively and creatively since 2014. Karissa is a very natural, gifted teacher. Able to see and communicate effectively with her students in the classroom, she always finds ways to keep her piano and drum students engaged and excited to learn their instrument.
Music Background
Karissa’s musicianship was always inevitable. She began life surrounded by the many bands that her father Kevin was producing in their home studio, and took a keen interest to music immediately.
She has performed with Kevin and Kellee in worship services for over a decade, eventually finding her way to drumline, drum set, and percussion for her own personal expression.
She picked up a knack for teaching early on, becoming one of our most trusted teachers with years of experience and hundreds of students to her name – as well being a live sound engineer for our annual concert “Arrow Fest.”
Beyond Arrow
Karissa loves the outdoors and adventure, as well her black lab Leo. Her travels have brought her to hike countless of the nation’s National Parks, mountains, marshes, cliffsides and valleys.
